Teams with green jerseys include:

  • Oakland Atheltics (MLB)
  • Green Bay Packers (NFL)
  • New York Jets (NFL)
  • Philadelphia Eagles (NFL)
  • Boston Celtics (NBA)
  • Milwaukee Bucks (NBA)
  • Dallas Stars (NHL)

Of course, other teams have adopted green jerseys here and there thanks to all of the different “special edition” circumstances like the Utah Jazz. Also a special shoutout to the Seattle SuperSonics who are no longer, and the green Dallas Mavericks jerseys from back in the day. Not to mention that we still have 10 MLB teams without City Connect jerseys.

I care because, as a lifelong A’s fan, I’ve always felt the kelly green alternate was the coolest look in the entire sport. I love it so much that even when I look at other teams with green jerseys, I’m immediately drawn to them as well!

So, to try and help you see and feel what I am with my sports-loving heart, here is a breakdown.

Oakland Athletics

As mentioned, the green jersey conversation begins and ends with the Oakland A’s. In terms of how it came to be, in one of his many bold moves, then-owner Charlie Finley changed the team’s colors to “kelly green” (and “wedding gown” white). The colors were prominently put on display with sleeveless tops and green undershirts.

Today, the A’s feature Kelly green jerseys in their regular rotation. And unlike other sports teams, they are pretty much the only MLB team to feature green.

Their classic green hex color is #003831, while their Kelly green is #003831.

Green Bay Packers

I don’t know about you, but if the Green Bay Packers didn’t have green jerseys, I’d have a lot of questions.

So, unlike an “Athletic” that can be pretty much any color, the Packer jersey has to be green in this case. Like Oakland, though, Packer green is complemented with yellow, which I’ve already made clear is a great color combination.

Their hex colors are

Boston Celtics

While not as much of a no-brainer as the Green Bay Packers being green, the Celtics and their lucky clover wouldn’t really fit if not told through green jerseys.

Sure, they’ve sported some black over the years, and their white uniforms are just as memorable as the green. But tell me you can’t imagine Larry Legend or Paul Pierce taking it to the rack in anything but green.

Their green hex color is #203731.

Milwaukee Bucks

I don’t know what it is, but I always forget the Bucks where green jerseys. Maybe it’s the darker shade, or perhaps the fact that Giannis is so good you look past anything else.

But, either way, here we are. Their green hex color is #00471B.

New York Jets

When I think about the New York Jets, it’s Broadway Joe Namath doing his thing in a white jersey.

Fast forward to current day, though, and I always seem to place Zach Wilson, Breece Hall, and others in green jerseys. Now, I’m a big sports card collector, so maybe their card photos have an influence on me.

Their “gotham” green hex color is #125740

Dallas Stars

Sometimes you feel like there is a mismatch between team name and color combination, and I’ve always felt them with the Dallas Stars. Like, shouldn’t we see some midnight blue and gold?

Taking a step back, though, did you know the Dallas Stars were originally the Minnesota North Stars? I’m not sure that makes their color choice any more understandable. But, I do know they used to be a lot more “kelly-ish” green.

Their current green hex color is #006847.

Philadelphia Eagles

Last on this list but a team that could have very well been first or near the top in terms of the classics.

The Philadelphia Eagles are green through and through, and their primetime play over the last couple of years should have cemented those images into football watchers from all over the country.

Their green hex color is #004C54.
