What Does 0-9-1 Mean in Football?

In football, 0-9-1 means zero wins, nine losses, and one tie. 0-9-1 is a description of a team’s record after ten total games, and is pronounced “O” as in “zero,” “9” and “1.”

In other words, it’s a terrible record given the team hasn’t won a single game in 10 tries, and only achieved a tie in one game.

And yes, it happens. In fact, here are some big moments from teams going into a game 0-9-1.

Well, it was more like a “Oh-9-1” record for the Lions going into their Turkey Day game against the bears. And, newsflash, not a whole lot of people were shunning their stuffing to get in front of the TV. It was a brutal game in which the Lions lost 16-14 to remain winless with a new record of 0-10-1.

The Lions would go on to actually win three games under head coach Dan Campbell, beating the Vikings in week 13, Cardinals in week 15, and Packers in week 18.
